My name is Collette. I’m 53 years old and married to Anthony since 1980. We had 3 kids, young Anthony, Triona and then Leanne. Those were some of the happiest days of my life. 23 years later, every parent’s worst nightmare came to me.
My youngest daughter Leanne died. She was the baby. She was Daddy’s girl and mummy’s baby. Nothing could put this right. I felt like I’d had open heart surgery without the anaesthetic. She was 18, beautiful and had everything to live for. We had discovered she had taken her life.
I can’t tell you as a mother what that does to your confidence that my own child chose to leave me. I wanted to die. The lives of my husband and two kids were shattered. It was like living the same day over and over again with no hope. My future, hopes and dreams died with Leanne.
Mark Ryan, (an on duty Garda) who looked out for us asked if I was angry with God. I answered, “why would I be angry with something I don’t believe exists?” He started to tell us what God had done for him and for the first time in my life, I decided to trust, and this trust was in God.
I can honestly say that I haven’t been let down. I have an unspeakable joy that surpasses all understanding and I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me (Philippians 4:7).I believe Jesus Christ is the son of God. I still face trials, but I know I am not alone. One day, when God calls me home, I will see my beautiful daughter.

My walk with God has been a love-filled one.
My walk with God has been a love-filled one. He satisfies my soul and fills me with all goodly census”. God has been so faithful, especially in my academics. He kept His promise of a beautiful life to me during my undergraduate studies
God had said to me that if I study Genetics, life would be beautiful for me. I decided to go with His choice and by His Grace, He caused me to excel in every way. To the glory of God, I graduated as Top of my class with a First Class degree in BSc. Genetics and also earned awards every year in college. I am now doing a PhD in Microbiolgy.
In addition to His faithfulness in my studies, God placed me in RCCG Inspiration House Cork, which has become my family. I left home as a teenager to study in Ireland and IHC has been more than a family to me. The love of God and love for one another is so evident in my church. Everyone is very kind and friendly.
In all, I thank God for His blessings and Grace upon my life
